Censer, Vase and Box with
"Three Abundances" Decor
in Painted Enamels
Ch'ien-lung period (A.D.
1736-1795)
Ch'ing Dynasty
The censer, vase and
box were used as a set
when burning incense. This
set of incense paraphernalia
is made of painted enamels
on a bronze body. The "three
abundances" decor features
"Buddha's hand" citron,
peach and pomegranate
motifs on a floral
background, symbolizing
the propitious theme
of abundant blessings,
abundant longevity, and
abundant male progeny.
